Here is a snapshot of what will be happening with the Surgical Services Expansion Project this week:

  • Work continues on stage 6a, which is the expansion and refurbishment of the Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU). The construction team, Hawkins, installed most of the hoarding required for this stage on Friday. They expect to finish installing the remainder of the hoarding by the end of Monday 26 April, and will then move on to the demolition of PACU. This work could be noisy for those in the area, however Hawkins are trying to keep disruption to a minimum, and will limit extremely noisy or intrusive work to a morning timeslot of 7-8.30am, or at night.
  • Work on the stage four area (old surgical tea room; new theatre eight) also continues this week, and is expected to be completed later this year.
  • Construction work on stage five (around the old orderlies’ office) continues, with this stage expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

We apologise to patients and staff for any disruption and noise, and thank them for their patience while work takes place.
